Day Trip To The Beach

So i took a day trip to the beach at Ocean City, MD driving through the country side and taking in all the beautiful scenarios, looking at the corn fields and peach farms oh it was breath taking, i wish i could do that every weekend! Then a realized how much i love nature and its beauties. With my everyday life it is hard to sit back, relax and get in touch with nature.
Then we arrived at the beach, pitched my umbrella and sat there just watching the wind and the waves the high tides and the low tides and people just having fun i knew i wanted to get into the water and have as much fun as others but the reality is - I am not a swimmer, i don't know how to swim and so the story begins...........
When i was a young girl growing up in Nigeria, my family had traveled to spend the holiday period with my uncle and his family, so this christmas morning my uncle decided that we should all go to the Federal Palace Hotel to spend the day. When we got there my uncle thought it will be a good idea to sit by the swimming pool, so we sat by the pool and my cousins quickly jumped into the pool and I sat by the pool with my legs in the water and i looked toward the deep end and i saw this very lanky, tall guy looking very slim and even as a young girl i thought he looked good and i could tell he felt he was good looking because he kept flexing his muscles preparing to dive into the pool, and so he did, he dove right into the pool which was normal (or so you would think), but what was not normal was the fact that he never surfaced, he never brought his head to the surface of the pool (i did not think anything of it either), and when the life guard noticed it he dove right into the pool but it was too late, the guy already drowned. That marked the end of what was supposed to be a beautful day out with my family on a christmas holiday. Everyone was asked to leave the pool and you can fill in the rest.......
Fast forward to the present, that single incident has caused me to be afraid of swimimg or having my head under water and my feet not touching the floor of a swiming pool. That fear has crippled me. I can get close to the water, close enough to have my feet wet or maybe get water up to my knees but that is far as i can go. I want to change that, i don't want to leave under that fear anymore, i want to take swiming lessons.
My goal come next summer is to be a swimmer..................................

Ok this post is not to be a sad one because i had a lot of fun still, i enjoyed every minute i spent by the beach. Looking forward to next summer!
